We are a Community Nursery established in the 1960s. Our aim is to provide a high standard of nursery education at a reasonable cost.
The Nursery is located in the grounds of Cumnor Primary School in Oxford Road, Cumnor. We are a separate organisation from the School but we are very closely linked, working with the school as a PFSU (Partnership Foundation Stage Unit). We provide an excellent induction programme to make the transition to school as smooth as possible for those children who go on to Cumnor School after Cumnor Pre-School Nursery.
There is no formal catchment area so we have children from all the surrounding villages and many of our children do go on to attend the local school in their own village.
We take children from the age of two and have a variety of different sessions catering for children up to the age of five.
All the staff have high levels of qualifications (Level 3 or above) in Nursery Education.
The Nursery is a voluntary organisation managed entirely by parents. The parents elect a Committee which employs the staff and carries out the administration and financial planning of the Nursery. Nursery fees cover staff salaries and day to day expenses whilst the acquisition of learning materials and equipment is met by fundraising. Cumnor Pre-School is a registered Charity.
The Nearly New Sale raised a much-appreciated £500 for the pre-school. Thank you to everyone who helped, bought or sold! This was followed up with the Bags2School collection, which raised another £100. Please contact Jess Dawe if you are interested in being able to sell your stuff online in aid of the pre-school between our twice yearly events.

We had another excellent day out at Farmer Gow's.
We have decided not to hold a sale this term as the date clashes with the school's production of Joseph.
And any money raised by the end of term. We may have some prizes for successful/interesting entries! (Every entry will have a little something!)
To celebrate the end of another school year, and to bid farewell to our old building, we are having a family picnic and entertainment at midday on Thursday 15th July on the back school field, with entertainment from Dizzy Dean.
The event is open to all Nursery families, whether or not you usually come on a Thursday. Bring a packed lunch and pick up at 11.45 as usual, or come early if you normally do afternoons. Every child must be accompanied by an adult for the picnic and entertainment.
If you usually attend the afternoon session, you may take your child home once the entertainment has finished or collect them at 3.15pm.
We intend to go ahead even if wet so may need the offer of some gazebos/shelters. Let us know if you are able to help.
Afternoon children have been talking about a new letter each week. Thank you for bringing some things beginning with W w.
We thought of Chloe's brother Will and Holly's last name Ward and Mar's dog Wa-Wa! We also had wellies, windmills, watches, water, wood and the World! Some of us have made windmills to bring home.
This was our last letter day ever for this group! Next Thursday (15th) is our picnic and entertainment and we will not be open on the afternoon of the 22nd as school is closing at 1.00pm.
We hope you enjoyed looking for things every week. Don't forget to keep practising the sounds of letters as you are out and about and reading books!
