Knowledge and understanding of the world is taught largely through theme work to provide a foundation for historical, geographical, scientific and technological learning.  This includes learning to use a computer for puzzles, creative work and research.  Children have plenty of opportunities to explore, enjoy and investigate natural and man-made materials, to be aware of the wider world around them and to use their senses.

We have met fire-fighters, tasted Chinese food and observed worms, snails and tadpoles.  We have transformed our home corner into a castle, made our own bread and tested our clothes to see which ones kept us warm, dry or cool.  We have planted seeds, watched them grow and enjoyed eating our home-grown cress in sandwiches.

Our topics are planned alongside the F1 class (4 - 5 year olds) at Cumnor School.
