Cumnor Pre-School Nursery offers part-time pre-school education for children aged two to five years.
Children can start at the Nursery once they are two years old. The morning sessions run every day and include a variety of activities from dressing up to the craft of the day. The morning sessions are for 2 year olds and younger 3 year olds.
We offer afternoon sessions to children who are due to start full-time school next September. These sessions are designed to prepare the children for school with more challenging, curriculum based activities. In these sessions the ratio of adults is higher than required by national standards (usually one adult per 6 children) so the children are assured of receiving all the one to one attention they need.
Lunch club no longer exists as a separate session. Due to the increase in government-funded session length from 2.5 to 3 hours, we now offer a 3 hour session in the afternoon and children may bring a packed lunch.

Our aim is to provide a secure and stimulating environment in which children learn through play, using a variety of educational toys and equipment. The activities are carefully planned to cover all the areas of the 'Foundation Stage of Learning' (from age 3 to 5) as required by the Government. Please refer to the section entitled 'Nursery Activities' for more information. The Nursery provides at least one adult per eight children over the age of three (or one adult per four children for two year olds).
From the term* after your child's 3rd birthday they are eligible to receive a Nursery Education Grant which is provided for 5 sessions (of 3 hours) per week. The grant covers the whole term. If the grant is available for your child we will give you a form to fill in. This will indicate the number of sessions for which you wish to claim funding through Cumnor Pre-school Nursery. You should also state on the form whether you wish to claim funding for some sessions through another nursery/daycare provider. The government will then provide us with the £10.65 normal rate for any sessions which you wish to claim.
* For the purpose of grant eligibility, terms are considered to be September to December, January to March and April to August.
