Nursery Committee

Cumnor Pre-School Nursery is a voluntary charitable organisation managed entirely by parents. The parents elect a management committee responsible for the running of the nursery, such as employing the staff and carrying out the administration and financial planning of the nursery. Nursery fees cover staff salaries and day to day expenses whilst the acquisition of learning materials and equipment is mainly met by fundraising.

The nursery is also a member of the Early Years Alliance, an educational charity which represents the interests of early years childcare providers, which gives staff and committee members specialist guidance and support.

Becoming a Committee Member

The nursery needs the help and support of its parents to continue and thrive. It would be excellent if every new parent could become involved in the work of the committee, as the previous members inevitably move on as their children get older and start school. Any help, however small, is very valued - and it's very rewarding and a great way of getting to know everyone!

Every autumn there is a formal AGM held in the Nursery building. This is an opportunity for new parents to get involved and join the Committee if they wish, although you can help out and join at any time in the year. The principle committee officers are: Chair, Secretary and Treasurer but there are also other roles such as Fundraising, Marketing and Publicity, to suit any parent who can help out.

Fundraising

Cumnor Pre-School Nursery needs to raise funds to pay the bills as well as to buy those "extras" that make the children's time at nursery more enjoyable and satisfying. Recently we have been fundraising hard to be able to refurbish our outdoor area. During the year many activities take place which need everyone's support, and are also great fun! We can all do something to lend a hand. Maybe you have some new ideas?
