Useful Information

Clothing

At nursery children have the opportunity to take part in many different activities which are all the more fun because they can be messy! So please dress your children in clothes which are appropriate for activities involving paint, clay and glue. Aprons are available if a child wishes to wear one, but we will not force them to do so. We believe that taking part in an activity is more beneficial.

Children are also learning to use the toilet independently so clothing which is easy for them to handle by themselves is always the best option. Please keep a change of clothes in their bag for emergencies. If your child is still in nappies please put spare nappies and wipes in their bag.

T-shirts and sweatshirts with the nursery logo are available. Download an order form here, or forms are available in nursery.

Snacks

Milk or water is provided at snack time each session and children are encouraged to drink water whenever they need to. At snack time we have rice cakes, breadsticks, fruit and vegetables. Sometimes we have toast, sandwiches or cakes which we have made in the session. Please tell us on the admissions form if your child has any food allergies/requirements.

Children should bring a named water bottle so that they can drink water whenever they need to.

Labelling

Please name all items (coats, hats, etc.) especially nursery sweatshirts and t-shirts (these can be ordered from us). It would help if any items brought into nursery are also named. Toys from home do sometimes get lost or mixed up with nursery things but if your child feels happier with a "cuddly" it will be looked after and kept safe.

You can use this link to order nametags online from My Nametags, and help us raise funds at the same time.
Our reference number is 13907.

Security

Please remember to let the Pre-school Manager know in writing if someone other than the usual parent/carer is collecting your child from nursery. A printed form is available at nursery for you to sign. We also operate a password system if arrangements for collecting your child have to be changed at the last minute. You will receive details of this system in the admissions pack.

Illness and Holidays

If children are unwell during the night, please don't bring them to nursery as they are usually overtired and will not enjoy themselves. Certain 'bugs' and illnesses are very infectious and we would appreciate it if you could keep your child at home until all risk of infecting others has passed. Please inform the Pre-school Manager by phone before 9.00 a.m. if your child is unable to attend their session.

We require written consent to administer any medication, including inhalers, to your child. A printed form is available for this purpose at nursery.

Please advise the Pre-school Manager in writing of your holiday dates as soon as they are known.

We have a duty to record all absences and the reason for it.

Parking

For safety reasons parents are not permitted to bring cars up the school drive at any time. If you need to travel by car please park with consideration for our neighbours and do not block access along nearby pavements. Please also do not park in the lay-by in Oxford Road as this is needed for the school bus, nor immediately outside the school gates in front of the post box which is hazardous for all the children attending the school or nursery.
